What is Research & Campaigns?
Sutton Borough Citizens Advice Bureau does more than give advice, we collect evidence of emerging problems and campaign to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.
All evidence and statistics are collected anonymously and individual clients are not identified. We use this information to produce reports and to campaign at both a national and local level by:
Raising issues with MPs, local councillors and other policy makers on behalf of our clients
Talking to the local Council about improvements to the services that they provide
Engaging directly with organisations and companies to persuade them to change policies and practices
Sending evidence to the national office of Citizens Advice, for use in campaigns that concern national issues
If you have a problem that you feel might be of interest to our Research & Campaigns team, you can click here to send them a message.
Over the course of 2015 we contributed evidence and case studies to a report on the delivery of Universal Credit in the pilot areas. This report has been released and you can find a copy of it here .
We have participated in a national campaign about support for workers who become unable to work due to sickness or disability. You can find further information and join the campaign to improve Employment & Support Allowance here .
As part of the Stop Hate UK project we have campaigned against hate crime and worked to raise awareness of this issue in Sutton. To report discrimination against either yourself or someone else, you can contact Stop Hate UK’s 24-hour helpline on 0800 138 1625. For more information visit www.stophateuk.org.
